Yuki Tanabe

At the age of 19, with nothing but a single bag, she moved to Koza, inspired by the allure of Okinawan folk songs.

A vocalist exploring the realms of Okinawan, Yaeyama, Miyako, and ancient Ryukyuan folk songs, as well as improvisations in Ryukyuan classical music, sacred chants, reggae, and experimental expressions.

With deep respect for those who have preserved the world treasure of “songs passed down through the Ryukyu Archipelago,” she carefully reinterprets them through a contemporary lens while honoring their legacy.

Performs as a singer and dancer in Eisa, traditional folk arts, and theatrical productions.

Has given live performances both domestically and internationally, including at the Bulgarian Japanese Culture Month concert.
