-sfera Presents: TORTAS FRITAS
In Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay, Francisco Giucci and Lorenzo Piriz Pereira connected over their shared musical vision and passion for digging, leading to the formation of Guajiros 2001.
This set is a musical selection that pays homage to the influence of candombe on Uruguayan jazz fusion throughout the decades, from the ’70s to the 2000s.
It is a tribute to Afro-Montevideo culture, to the drummers and dancers, to the traditional families of Barrio Sur and Palermo, and to the vibrant street life that keeps tradition alive.
With vocal contributions from icons such as Lobo Nuñez, Rubén Rada, Ricardo Tucuta Soto, Jorginho Gularte, and Hurón Silva, this project celebrates the oral transmission of a unique musical heritage.
